What is web accessibility?

Web accessibility refers to the ability of web pages and web page content to be wviewed in a variety of conditions, especially those experienced by disabled users.

Accessible web content can be successfully displayed on:

text-based browsers
screen readers or text-to-speech converters
various monitor resolutions and color depths
various hardware and software platforms
older browsers
browsing environments configured to omit images or other elements

Accessible web pages do not need to be text-only. It is possible to make all web pages accessible--even those with many images and other multimedia elements--by following a set of guidelines.

By providing accessible web pages, you will be:

ensuring equity of access to all users of Middletown campus web content
enabling the campus to meet its legal requirements
presenting a professional image to current MUM students and staff, potential students, associates, and the world
