What is web accessibility?
Web accessibility refers to the ability of web pages and web page content to be wviewed in a variety of conditions, especially those experienced by disabled users.
Accessible web content can be successfully displayed on:
- text-based browsers
- screen readers or text-to-speech converters
- various monitor resolutions and color depths
- various hardware and software platforms
- older browsers
- browsing environments configured to omit images or other elements
Accessible web pages do not need to be text-only. It is possible to make all web pages accessible--even those with many images and other multimedia elements--by following a set of guidelines.
By providing accessible web pages, you will be:
- ensuring equity of access to all users of Middletown campus web content
- enabling the campus to meet its legal requirements
- presenting a professional image to current MUM students and staff, potential students, associates, and the world
