Feedback form results
We received three suggestions since initiating the feedback form:
- Not all computers can open the schedule and other features of your page. Is there a more universal way that you could put these on your website?
We believe the user is talking about PDF's. We discussed exploring alternate ways of posting course schedules, exam schedules, etc.
- Several times I have tried to access your Nursing links from different areas and they are not working. Check your server.
Teri said she did an extended search on our web for all nusing links. She could not find anything amiss. Perhaps there was something wrong with the Hamilton server on which the nursing information is housed.
- On My Miami the only Middletown campus links that are working when I checked are the library and nursing. I've mentioned updating these links several times. I'd like to have a link to academic advising in a more visible location too especially during registration times. Advising is under student services so you'd have to know which dept. to look in to find it. We could do a FAQ link also: Q: How do I find my academic advisor.
Diane Cantonwine was volunteered to chair the new myMiami subcommittee which will decide what links to place on the myMiami website. Jo Anne Riggs volunteered to help her.
New Hamilton campus website
We took a quick look at the new Hamilton website. It looks amazingly like ours so we must have made a good decision to copy the Oxford campus look.
Subcommittee: Usability study report
Kelly Cowan says we have money to fund this project. Paul Shaffer has been contacted to help us with this project, but has not yet responded. Diane will contact him again. The goal is to conduct a usability study for potential students at the Tech Challenge on April 30. Paul would help with that and then organize an internal study.
Subcommittee: 508 standards report
Section 508 is mandated for all federal web pages. Since we are not a federal agency, we cannot mandate it, but we can suggest following the guidelines. We have the guidelines and are developing a plan for compliance within the next two years. The first step is to add the alt attribute to all images.
Subcommittee: Web policy report
Teri has found two web policies within Miami University that she likes a lot. One is from the School of Engineering and Applied Science and the other is from the Richard T. Farmer School of Business. Andrea Han has volunteered to chair this committe and will work on a draft combining the two.
