Hawk Haven
Johnston Hall
Hawk Haven in Johnston Hall is provided for easy access between classes for
recreation, music, studying, meeting with friends. Food and drinks are available
from various vending machines and from a short-order grill. The grill is open
from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. A microwave oven is also available.
Hawk Haven is also the site of live entertainment during the school year. Watch
for shows posted and their times.
Activities available in Hawk Haven include:

- Ping Pong

Intercollegiate Athletics

The Miami University Middletown intercollegiate athletic programs consist of
women's volleyball, basketball, and tennis; and men's basketball, tennis, baseball,
and golf. These teams compete primarily against other regional campus teams
and are members of the Ohio Regional Campus Conference (ORCC) along with Miami
University Hamilton, O.S.U. Lima, O.S.U. Newark, O.U. Chillicothe, O.U. Eastern,
University of Akron Wayne, and U.C. Clermont. All students are encouraged to
participate in the athletic program. Miami Middletown faculty, staff, and students
(with I. D.) gain free admission to all Thunderhawk home games. Athletic schedules
are available in the Student Affairs Office, 124 Johnston Hall.

Recreation
Bennet Recreation Center
The C. Eugene Bennett Recreation Center (Gym) is available to all Miami Middletown
students, faculty, staff, and their guests. Your Miami Middletown ID card is
required to use the facility or check out equipment. Lockers and locks are available
in the facility for storing your personal items and equipment. The recreation
Center includes a weight room, which contains Universal and Nautilus equipment,
free weights, exercise cycles, Stair Masters, and treadmill.

Student Activities

Student Activities are an integral part of campus life. There is an array of
programs, activities, and events scheduled throughout the year to interest both
traditional and non-traditional students. These activities incorporate and facilitate
learning outside the classroom, time management, teamwork, communication, and
sportsmanship. Trips to professional sporting events, snow skiing, golf outings,
dinner theaters and student conferences are available for student enrichment.
Special trips are planned for the fall and spring breaks. Make sure you take
advantage of all the campus has to offer!

Student Government

Miami Middletown Student Government (MMSG) consists of elected representatives
from the student body and student organizations. It formulates student policies
and advises the administration on student needs and opinions. MMSG supervises
student organizations and its members sit on student-faculty governing boards.
MMSG includes three first year students, three sophomores, and two upper class
students elected by the student body. In addition, one member from each organization
sits on MMSG.

Miami Middletown's student organizations are an important part of campus life
and are as unique and diverse as our students. Student organizations focus on
such interests as computer technology, ecology, business, education, religion,
art, childcare, and journalism. One representative from each student organization
serves in Miami Middletown’s Student Government. Information on specific
organizations or guidelines to start a new organization can be obtained from
the Student Affairs Office in Room 124 Johnston Hall.

Veteran's Peer Advising

Veterans re-entering school may apply on line for Veteran's benefits. First

Students wishing to fill out forms to make a change of program or place of training,
should visit: www.va.gov/vaforms. To submit projected
credit hours each semester, visit www.muohio.edu/financial
aid. Enrolling veterans with questions, are encouraged to contact Jody
Cosgrove, Senior Counselor, VA Coordinator in Oxford to learn more details about
GI Bill eligibility and other assistance available to veterans and their dependents.
