Heather Imfeld Conger, Kim Flick Bennett, Kevin Svarda and John Langhorne have gone on to greater things in their lives.

Conger and Bennett are teachers, Svarda is a district sales coordinator and Langhorne is the CEO of a company he co-founded, but all four, along with Don Faris, a founding faculty member and tennis coach at Miami University Middletown, are connected through their involvement in the athletic programs at MUM.

All five were honored for their contributions by being inducted as the second class of the MUM Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday evening.

Faris, who passed away in 2006, was one of MUM's founding faculty members in 1966. He also guided the men's and women's tennis programs for 15 years, leading them to a combined 10 state championships and 18 Ohio Regional Campus Conference titles.

"Don loved his family, teaching, coaching and MUM," said Faris' wife, Kay. "On behalf of his family, we say thanks, and I can tell you he is loving this.

"Conger and Svarda were honored for their basketball careers at MUM.

Conger, who played at MUM from 1995-2000, is the women's all-time leading scorer with 1,590 points. She also holds the record for free throws made in a season (155) and a career (467) and is second all-time in rebounds with 716.

"I'm really very honored," said Conger, who is a sixth-grade math teacher in the Carlisle School District. "I owe it all to my teammates, specifically Kelly Newcomb and Jamie Kingsland, who were both unselfish players in giving up their stats for me.

"I had great role models here, and I try to pass on the lessons I learned to my students," she added.

Bennett was a two-sport athlete from 1984-89, competing in volleyball as well as basketball. She helped guide the volleyball team to its first-ever state championship, and was also a member of the 1987-88 state championship basketball team. She is currently a science teacher at Garfield Middle School.

Langhorne was a member of MUM's first golf team in 1971, and helped lead the golf team to its first-ever state championship in 1982.
