Segue 2.1: Fall 03

Featuring Denise Duhamel, who offers a series of new poems that structure themselves around nonliterary forms. The resulting poetry raises fascinating questions about the relationship between poetry and "household" forms of writing. As she asks in her commentary on these poems, "What do the warnings on household items have to do with the warnings as to the 'dangers' of a poem? How are questions commonly asked by Hawkeye International Fishtank™ buyers like those questions the newly dead might ask when they arrive to The Aferlife™ ? Might the President of the United States come with a warranty not unlike the one that comes with an electric stove? Can we really mumble something else under our breaths during The Pledge of Allegiance? Will anyone notice?"

Segue 2.2: Spring 04

Featuring two new stories from Katherine Haake, along with her commentary on the work, in which she describes how she entered "into a world where each character is defined by an essential flaw that somehow reflects not just the sad demise of both earth and history, but also the remaining human capacity for hope and grace."
