Fiction, Poetry, Creative Nonfiction Submissions

Segue is published annually in August. For creative work, we accept submissions between August 1 and April 30 only; submissions received May-July will not be considered. Authors receive notification of acceptance/rejection via an email form letter. Because of the volume of submissions we receive, we cannot provide personal responses or critiques.

We accept submissions from both new and established authors. As a literary journal with an eye on the university classroom, we try to publish an eclectic blend of styles, voices, and subjects, and we shy away from the formulaic (genre fiction, greeting-card verse, etc.). Read our past issues to get a feel for what we're looking for, then send us the most thoughtful, complex, challenging, moving literature you can muster. We'll use our intuition and a keen sense of smell to guide us in the right direction, and we'll know what we want when we find it.
