College Expectations and Resources
Available Resources for When You Need Help
- Meet with your instructor during
his/her OFFICE HOURS (find office hours on your syllabus
or contact a faculty secretary).
- Create STUDY GROUPS
of fellow students.
- Use the MATH LAB
and READING/WRITING LAB (located by Student Services in
the basement of Johnston, both are open M-R 10 – 7 and F 10 –
2).
- Get an INDIVIDUAL TUTOR
free of charge (go to Johnston 1, 727-3330).
- Attend MAXIMUM BENEFITS
WORKSHOPS (a variety of topics related to student success) offered
by Student Services (1 Johnston, 727-3440).
- Take a SUPPORT COURSE
(on study skills, career development, computer use, use of the library,
or an introduction to the university).
- See your ADVISOR
(his or her name is attached to your COMPASS score sheet
or go to Student Services in 1 Johnston).
- See Nancy Ferguson (1 Johnston,
727-3431) for mental health COUNSELING (free to anyone)
and DISABILITY SERVICES (if you have a learning, physical,
or mental health disability that will impact your performance here).
- Child care is available through
the Middletown Area Family YMCA Children’s Center,
formerly MUM TOTS (727-3220, for age 3-5 or half-day kindergarten,
financial assistance is available through the child care assistance program
with Butler or Warren counties) – be sure you have a back up plan
for child care!
- See Mike Hieber (1 Johnston,
727-3449) if you have questions about transferring from Miami to another
institution or if you have questions about your transfer to Miami.
