Financial Aid

Begin by completing the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA):

1. Apply by filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid
2. This is a need-analysis document
3. Calculates the family’s ability to pay
4. Call 1-800-4 FED-Aid  if you have FAFSA-related questions

 Before you get started, keep the following in mind:

1. Use a copy of the paper FAFSA as a worksheet -Once completed transfer to actual on-line FAFSA
2. Answer all questions
3. Follow directions
4. Don’t forget parent’s signatures
5. Don’t forget to include the date
6. Apply for financial aid before being accepted into college

Here are some more hints:

1. Check with college for priority deadline
2. List the university AND the Title IV code. Miami is 003077
3. Gather all financial information at the start of the new year
4. Keep a separate file for each school you apply to
