Call for 2010 Teaching Award. CTL is soliciting nominations for the 2010 MUM Excellence in Teaching Award. Deadline is Friday, Feb. 5. The Miami University Middletown Excellence in Teaching Award is given annually to honor faculty members whose work epitomizes the University’s ideals of dedication, commitment, and excellence in teaching. Awards will be presented in two categories: full-time faculty and part-time faculty. You may submit your nominations by email to mumctl@muohio.edu or to Angela Yesh (yesha@muohio.edu). You may also drop off your nominations to the CTL (room 11 JHN) or in Angela Yesh's campus mailbox in 205 Johnston Hall. Now is the time to sign–up for the Miami Emergency Text Messaging System to get weather-related campus closings. With this system, you register your cell phone number to receive an emergency text alert. Please go to muohio.edu/police, click on the Emergency Text Message icon and follow the instructions. It only takes a few minutes to register. You'll be glad you did on those snowy, icy mornings when you receive a text giving you the latest information. Have you changed your cell phone number since last year? Stop by the Computer Center in Gardner-Harvey Library and show your Student ID, they will help get your new information updated.

Dress Clothing Donations needed for women in need! We are looking for gently used work attire and dress attire for women. Donations will be given at first come, first serve basis for those in need. These donations will be providing women work attire for interviews. Please drop off donations at the Dean’s Office, Room 116 Johnston Hall. Please keep donations on hangers. Clothing in bags cannot be accepted.

New Hours of Operation for Admission, Financial Aid & Records and Registration are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Students, if you need assistance between 5 – 7:15 pm, Monday – Thursday, visit the One-Stop Service Center window in Johnston Hall. What services are available at the One-Stop Service Center? At the One-Stop Service Center you can turn in forms and get answers to your admission, financial aid, and records and registration questions after 5 pm. Should you have a very specific question or need, the person at the One-Stop window will take your name and contact information. It will be given to the appropriate department which will contact you the following business day. Fall Semester One-Stop Service Representative Schedules will be as followed: Mondays: Financial Aid, Tuesdays: Admission and Wednesdays & Thursdays: Records & Registration.

Miami Middletown and Miami Hamilton will no longer be printing a course schedule book beginning with Spring 2010. In the past, the information in these books was often out of date by the time it was printed. Student-friendly kiosks will be operational soon in the lobby of Johnston Hall and basement of Thesken Hall, allowing students to look up much of the admission, records and registration, financial aid and course information that they need.

No More Mr. (or Ms.) Nice Guy. On Tuesday, Sept. 8, Miami Middletown security personnel began ticketing vehicles that didn't have valid parking permits. (They had been giving warnings.) To avoid getting a $10 ticket, stop by the Cashier's window in Johnston Hall and get a FREE parking permit. The Cashiers are open 8 am – 7:15 pm Monday - Thursday and 8 am - 5 pm on Friday.

Having difficulty with math or writing assignments or want to improve your reading proficiency? The Math Lab located in RM 9, Johnston Hall, and the Writing and Learning Center in RM 2, Johnston Hall opens Monday, August 31. The Math Lab is open 10 am - 7 pm, Monday - Thursday and 10 am - 2 pm on Friday. The Writing and Learning Center is open 10 am-7 pm, Monday-Thursday and by appointment only on Friday.
