Sears, Meade Named MUM Students of the Month

Scott Sears and Autumn Meade have been named Miami University Middletown's Students of the Month for October and November.

Scott Sears, a sophomore education major from Middletown, was nominated for his outstanding work with a number of student organizations. "He isn't just a name on a list of members. He contributes his leadership and his time to these organizations," said his nominator. As a student worker in the admission's office, Sears' leadership was shown recently by organizing 20 student volunteers to help with a new student recruiting event. He also represented the campus on a student panel and stayed late to give extra tours for this event.

Autumn Meade, a sophomore from Franklin majoring in social science (BIS), was nominated for the award for her dedication to the Campus Ambassadors. She has worked hard to recruit new students for the Campus Ambassadors and has a passion to see the university represented in a positive light. "It's refreshing to see someone so determined to make something work," said her nominator. She works in the student affairs office, at the information desk and handles gate receipts at home games. As a student assistant, she has been creative, dependable and shown a willingness to take on new responsibilities and see them through to completion. "Meade's work ethic is strong, and she is unique in her ability to combine her work schedule, her academic responsibilities and her leadership roles successfully."

The Student of the Month award is given in recognition of students who make a significant contribution to the campus either in or out of the classroom.
