Conley Named MUM Student of the Month

Steven Dale Conley has been named Miami University Middletown's Student of the Month for September. The junior from Middletown is one of first students to be enrolled in the new Bachelor of Integrative Studies degree program at Miami University Middletown.

Conley was nominated for the award for his commitment to representing the campus in the community. He has performed the past two years at the Hope for Our Friends benefit concert; helping raise more than $500 each year for the American Cancer Society. In September, he played the barrel piano during sign-in at the Middletown Area American Heart Walk. Let it Snow!

If the weather outside is frightful, there are several ways to check for closings and cancellations at Miami Middletown.

First, this web site. We will post closings, cancellations and late starts on this web page. Click on "Weather Update" under the News column (far left) for the latest information.

Next, our weather phone line at 727-3477. This phone line lists cancellations by morning, afternoon and evening classes.

Or, listen to radio or television announcements. Of course this applies only to campus-wide closings or postponements, not to individual classes. The radio stations we supply information to include: WMOH(1450), WLW(700), WPFB(910), WHIO(1290) AM, WMUB(88.5) and WPFB(105.9) FM. We also notify most Cincinnati and Dayton television stations, as well as TV Middletown.

Last year, we began using the Miami Emergency Text Messaging System for weather-related campus closings. However, you must register your cell phone number to receive an emergency text alert. Please go to muohio.edu/police, click on the Emergency Text Message icon and follow the instructions. It only takes a few minutes to register. You'll be glad you did on those snowy, icy mornings when you receive a call giving you the latest information.

(Note that for faculty and staff we may refer to Plan A: classes are canceled, but all staff report as usual; or Plan B: campus is closed, only emergency staff should report.)
