Day, Schoultis Win Jump/Push ContestTyra Day of the Johnston Hall Faculty Support Office won the drawing to tandem jump at the same time as Kelly Cowan at 11 am on Wednesday, July 19, while John Schoultis of the Mail Room won plane ride privileges. MUM Interim Dean Kelly Cowan is joining a number of community leaders as they promote the Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival by skydiving.
Drawing ticket sales raised a total of $320 to support the new Mentoring Students for Success program co-sponsored by MUM, Middletown City Schools and the City of Middletown.
MUM students, faculty and staff are invited to eat lunch at Hook Field (1707 Run Way, next to Smith Park) on Wednesday, 11 am - noon. There is grassy area next to the F.B.O and you are welcome to bring your brown bag, a blanket or chair and watch Kelly in her moment of terror and/or triumph.

Miami's Regional Campuses Offer Offsite and Online ClassesMiami University's Hamilton and Middletown campuses will be offering 37 offsite courses beginning in August in Lebanon, Eaton, Trenton, and at two locations in West Chester.
More than 3,600 students have enrolled in Offsite Courses since 1995, benefitting from the nationally-recognized academic quality that Miami University offers.
Miami's Middletown Campus is adding the convenience of online courses in physics, psychology, statistics, and theatre appreciation this year.
At Lakota West High School in West Chester, the courses offered include College Composition, Life and Thought in English Literature, Plants Humanity and the Environment, History, Perspectives in Parenting, Public Expression and Critical Inquiry, Elementary Algebra, Precalculus, Symphonic Band, Statistics and Social Relations.
A second course location in West Chester is being added this year, the SEBC Workforce Academy, located in the lower level of People's Bank on Cox Road. Classes offered there will include Microbiology, Field Botany, a contemporary literature course focusing on Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, and an Environmental Science Seminar.
At the Warren County Career Center in Lebanon Miami will offer Elementary Algebra, Introduction to Accounting, College Composition, History, Introduction to Psychology, Elementary Algebra, Geology of US National Parks and Public Expression and Critical Inquiry.
Principles of Human Physiology, a zoology course, will be offered at Edgewood High School in Trenton.
In Eaton courses are offered at The Preble County Educational Service Center and Eaton High School. Courses scheduled for this fall in Preble County include Peoples of the World, Introduction to Accounting, Introduction to Marketing, Public Expression and Critical Inquiry, College Composition, American History, World History and Elementary Algebra, Computer Skills, Psychology and Environmental Biology courses.
Many of the Offsite Courses may be taken by students who signed up for Ohio's Post-Secondary Education program at Miami's regional campuses.
Some Indiana residents living along the Ohio/Indiana border can take advantage of in-state tuition rates under a special tuition reciprocity arrangement available at Miami's regional campuses.

Adult Info Sessions Scheduled at MUM in JulyMiami University Middletown has scheduled three information sessions in July for adults who are thinking about attending college. Miami Middletown's fall classes begin on August 22 and there is still time to enroll and get financial aid.
Back to School? will be held on Tuesday, July 18 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, July 22 at 10 a.m. This program will cover degree programs geared toward adult students. Attendees will hear from former students who attended college as adults.
Switching Gears...Changing Careers will be held on Tuesday, July 25 at 6 p.m. This session will cover potential career changes, such as going from an industrial to a small business environment. Find out which careers are in demand in Ohio and how an education can help in attaining career goals.
All sessions will also address learning assistance, career planning, childcare, study skills classes, university partnerships and financial aid.

Kids in College Set for July 10Miami Middletown is offering summer enrichment programs for children who will be entering grades 1-9 in the fall. These interactive, creative programs highlight math, computers, pet care and sculpting.
Classes will be held the week of July 10 and cost from $75-$79. Most classes are held from 9-11:30 a.m., Monday - Thursday.
This session's classes include: Edible Math for grades 3 and 4; Pet Care Professionals for grades 5 and 6; Logo Turtles for grades 7, 8 and 9; and Creations in Clay for grades 1-4 and 5-7.
