The Miami University Middletown Office of Community Engagement and Service (CES) is an energetic collective of interdisciplinary faculty and staff that serves as a liaison between the University and our local communities. Dedicated to community engagement, our mission is to foster mutually productive partnerships between the campus and surrounding communities that enhance the University curriculum’s emphasis on service learning and community engagement, ensure the intellectual and economic health of both the campus and the surrounding communities, and generate an environment where critical thinking, creative ability, professional skills, diversity, and responsible citizenship are valued and developed.
The activities of the CES focus primarily on:
> Developing educational opportunities for the mutual benefit of the University and community, including seminars, lectures, workshops, community-based learning courses, reading groups, and more
> Providing a contact point for information on community-related projects that individuals, committees, and organizations on and off campus are involved in fostering communication and collaboration among these groups
> Supporting those interested in developing such projects
