I Just Need Some Articles!

You want articles and you want them yesterday . . . how do you find them?

Miami University Libraries subscribes to many full text periodical indexes for MU students, faculty, and staff (see our full listing of Indexes & Databases).
These periodical indexes are available anywhere you have Internet access (see our Accessing Library Databases From Home page).

Follow these three steps to find articles:
  1. Choose a periodical index based on the type of article you need:
  2. Academic Search Complete
(choose "Full Text" under "Limit your results" to ensure that you will get full text articles)

    • For magazine articles

    • this index includes many popular, hobby, and news titles such as Time, Newsweek, Popular Science, and People.

    • For scholarly or peer-reviewed journals

    • choose "Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals" under "Limit your results" to get results from academic publications such as Science, Journal of the American Medical Association, or Journal of Marriage & Family.

    LexisNexis News (entirely full text)

    • For newspaper articles

    • includes articles from regional, national, and international newspapers and the Associated Press.

    • For transcripts

    • includes radio, television, and political transcripts

  3. Find your articles:
    • Enter your topic in the index's search box (be sure to enter only the key term(s) or phrase(s) that describe your search)
    • View your results and click on the title or "full text" link to view individual articles

  4. E-mail, save, or print your articles:
    • In Academic Search Complete, click on "add" to add articles to your folder. Then click on "view folder" or "folder has items" to email, print, or save.
    • In LexisNexis News, click on the "Print" or "Email" tabs at the top of the screen to print or email single or multiple articles.
