Additional Information
What is a reflection?
A reflection is a short summary of the activity you attended, addressing the who, what, when, where and why’s.
- Date and place
- What did you do?
- Why did you do this?
- Who was there?
- Will you do it again?
- Did you enjoy the experience?
- Relate leadership to the experience
- WHAT DID YOU LEARN?!!!!!!!!
For events that are sponsored by the program, you will be given credit towards your hours. A form will be given to you to sign, confirming your presence.
The program coordinator will read reflections and may wish to ask questions or contact you to make comments.
Reflections can be turned in via email or hard copy in Johnson 9.
How do I earn hours in the program?
Earning hours for the program is easy. You may use other activities you are involved in towards this program. For example, if you are a member of the student newspaper and write an article about what is going on in the Middle East, you may use this as an hour in the program for communication, or diversity depending on how you want to spin it.
What are some examples of activities that I may participate in?
- Attend a speaker event
- Joining an organization or committee
- Volunteering
- Tutoring or mentoring others
- Attending a leadership conference
- Participating in the relay for Life or Pink Ribbon project
- Providing a service for another
- Job shadows
- Any other event that you feel is appropriate
If you attend an event for longer than an hour, you can submit a reflection for more than one hour. However, you must attend 2 different events for each category and cannot attend one event for the 5 hours. You may also mix and match the event hours if you need hours in a certain category and you feel that it is an appropriate fit.
Your hours will be logging in under your blackboard account. Once you are accepted to the program, you will be enrolled on the MMLP’s blackboard site.
