The program sounds interesting. Why can't I just have my kids start working on their writing and then register when we get to Middletown?
My school district is pretty slow in processing requests for this kind of thing. Is there anything I can do to receive the necessary materials from you while the wheels are turning?
What if we register and then change our minds? Can we cancel?
When do I have to provide the names of faculty advisors and students?
When you submit the written work in November. Be sure each group of three students is accompanied by a faculty member.
Is it ok for student teachers to participate?
The Campus Community Center charges us for refreshments for every person in attendance in addition to charging for each meal. The registration fee only covers these costs for 4 persons, the three students and a faculty advisor. If you want to bring along a student teacher, the cost is $20 to cover the refreshments and luncheon. Please indicate any additional participants on your registration sheet.
What happens if the writing is not sent to Miami by the deadline?
Only materials that have arrived by the deadline have any opportunity of being published in the Student Voices booklet. Materials received after the deadline are still read and rated, however. Where do I send the materials and registration? PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL CORRESPONDENCE MUST COME TO THE MIDDLETOWN CAMPUS. MATERIALS SENT TO OXFORD HAVE GOTTEN LOST IN THE PAST!
When do we receive the letters with our team's ratings?
Generally, those letters are mailed out about one week after the conference.
What happens if one of the students submits a poem?
It isn't read or rated.

One of the required pieces of writing is a collaborative essay in response to a prompt that we provide. We provide that prompt only after your team is registered. The program generally fills to capacity; we have had to turn away teams on occasion, so waiting too long may cost your team a space in the program.
My school district is pretty slow in processing requests for this kind of thing. Is there anything I can do to receive the necessary materials from you while the wheels are turning?
For schools who have participated before, we trust your word that the payment is forthcoming. Send in the registration form and we'll send you the materials. For new participants, just include a letter from your principal guaranteeing that payment is being processed.
What if we register and then change our minds? Can we cancel?
Your school will not receive a refund should you cancel, so please be certain that your students truly want to participate before sending in your registration.
