Projects funded by CTL grants in academic year 2007-2008

Two types of funding are available, for teaching initiatives or projects (maximum $500 for either a group or individual) and reading/media discussion groups (maximum $200).

Teaching initiatives

Garry Bowyer (PHS)—Attend the International Conference on Education.

Mel Cohen (POL)— "Health Care and Nursing in The Gambia" - Funding for travel expenses for Dr. Francis Sarr, current head of the Department of Nursing and Reproductive Health at the University of The Gambia and former head of the Gambia School of Nursing and Midwifery.

Moira Casey (ENG) - " Chatting with Irish Authors" - Funding for honoraria for two Irish authors, James Ryan and Emma Donoghue, to participate in an online chat session with students.

Lizz Howard (CIT) - " Integrating Intercultural Perspectives in the CIT Curriculum" - Funding for travel expenses to the Oxford Round Table.

Reading/Media Discussion Groups

Caryn Newman(HST) - Discussion of the book, The Missing Professor.
