Phones & Long Distance

For any changes in phone or data service, please contact Technology Services with appropriate information for processing. Administrative offices will need to supply a Banner Index with all requests.

Phones

  • New Phone Line - to have a new phone line installed you will need to specify the room and an approximate location for the phone wiring to be done. A simple drawing is helpful.
  • Move Phone Extension to New Location - to have an existing extension moved to a new location, you will need to specify the telephone jack location and the extension number. The telephone jack location number can be found on a label that is affixed to each telephone/data outlet box (example: JHN116C-1 or THH205B-2). If there are multiple telephone slots on some telephone/data outlets, you will need to specify which slot you will be using. These are labeled too (example: T1 or T2).
  • Reset Voice Mail - sometimes part-time faculty are assigned an office and the voice mail is set for the person who previously occupied the office. To request the voice mail to be reset and the extension number and the person currently using this phone is all that is needed.

Long Distance

  • Long distance for business purposes is available from most office phones by dialing 81 + area code and number. Some phones and faxes require a long distance code to activeate the long distance feature. The long distance code is linked to a Banner Index.
  • Personal long distance is available to employees at a very low cost. The service can be requested by submitting a request form. The form is available in the Office of Business Services. Telecommunications will issue the long distance code and all charges will be payroll deducted.
