Miami University students, faculty and staff are automatically assigned a UniqueID and associated accounts on Oxford's centrally managed systems. These accounts provide access to myMiami, Blackboard, BannerWeb, e-mail, the Internet, and a variety of other network and computational tools.
To gain access to these services you will need to know your Unique ID. Your
Unique ID will be created from the first six characters of your last name, your
first initial, and your middle initial. If your last name is less than six characters,
all characters will be used. For example, John Q. Public would be created as
publicjq. Those with common surnames will be assigned a number. A utility has
been provided to look up your
uniqueID.
For security purposes all computer accounts are assigned passwords. The initial
password for your accounts will be a combination of your birth date and Social
Security Number. It will be in the format MMDDSSSS, where MM is your two-digit
birth month, DD is your two-digit birth day, and SSSS is the last four numbers
of your Social Security Number.
