DEPARTMENTAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Botany- No application needed. Declared botany majors are considered by a faculty committee. Criteria includes involvement in internships, tutoring,research projects, college GPA, etc.

Business Technology- Applications are available in January for the following fall. Contacts: Hamilton Campus, BTE secretary 785-7706 Middletown Campus, Room 109 Johnston Hall, 727-3271.

Computer & Information Technology - CIT
Must be a CIT major or a Computer Science & Systems Analysis transfer student with a preference for a CIT major. Awarded to one or more students who demonstrate academic merit and/or financial need. May be full-time or part-time during the semester the scholarship is awarded.

Thatcher Computer and Information Technology Scholarship- CIT or CSA
Preference to women and multi-cultural applicants majoring in Computer Information Technology or Computer Technology. Scholarship may be awarded to the same student each year of their college career, up to a maximum of six semesters, providing the recipient maintains a 2.7 GPA and meets the financial aid requirements.

English
Malcomb M. Sedam Scholarship (merit-based) Applicants must be declared English majors with minimum GPA of 2.9 who are taking a majority of their courses at Miami University-Middletown. The scholarship will provide $850 to a single awardee or may also be divided among more than one applicant.

Requirements for a portfolio are: submit two or more separate pieces of writing, not to exceed 25 pages total. (There is no minimum page requirement.) Students are strongly encouraged to submit a range of genres--fiction, creative nonfiction, essays, poetry, drama, etc. Writing for the portfolio can come from anywhere--course work (at MU or elsewhere), personal writing, etc.

The writing must be the original work of the students. Plagiarized work will be immediately disqualified. Additional measures may be taken against the student, as well.

Nursing
The Department of Nursing offers several need based and merit based scholarships. If you are accepted into the nursing program (not open to pre-nursing), a nursing scholarship application will be mailed with your acceptance letter.
Note: February 1 is the deadline for nursing applications to enter clinical courses next fall.

Robert and Tina Breitenbach Social and Human Services Scholarship: such as psychology, counseling, social work family social work, criminal justice, and pre-kindergarten education.
Open to full or part-time, undergraduate students enrolled at Miami University Middletown. Scholarship is renewable including relocation to Oxford Campus as a full-time student to complete the degree, providing the student meets the merit and financial need requirement.
