One of the peculiar aspects of the Miami academic calendar has always been the Monday/Tuesday “Switch Days” that occurred each semester. Starting with the 2007-2008 academic year, Switch Day will only occur during the spring semester, which will make it half as confusing or twice as confusing, depending on your point of view. On Switch Day, all classes that normally meet on Monday, meet on Tuesday instead, and all classes that normally meet on Tuesday take the day off.

When Is Monday/Tuesday Switch Day?

Spring 2009

Monday, Feb. 16 — President's Day, no classes

Tuesday, Feb. 17 — Monday/Tuesday class exchange day

• Tuesday classes DO NOT meet.
• Monday classes DO meet.

Because Monday classes do not meet on Martin Luther King Day, substituting Monday classes for Tuesday classes during the week of President’s Day evens out the number of class periods for classes taught on either day — each class misses one day.
