Part-Time/Adjunct Faculty Handbook
Part-Time Faculty Oasis
Thesken 110 A and 110 C
Johnston Hall 204
Welcome to the Part-time Faculty Oasis! We provide these guidelines for the sake of clarification. The intent of providing this space is to provide Part-Time Faculty with a space for planning, meeting with students, and storing belongings on a short-term basis.
Guidelines for use
- Access to the Oasis requires a key (to be obtained from Business Services, 116 Johnston Hall). For the sake of security, please be sure that the door is closed and locked at all times. There will be sightlines in the room that cannot view an open door, and I do not wish to make anyone function as security personnel.
- Workspace is on a first-come, first-served basis at all times. If you leave your workspace momentarily, I suggest you leave a note on the desktop stating that you will be returning in a few moments. If you find that there are no workspaces available, please contact me (see information below) to let me know. An advance sign-up process will be initiated if overcrowding occurs.
- Use of the conference room should be reserved (Thesken only). A two-hour time block per day will be the maximum usage for an individual faculty member. Please sign up at least 1 week in advance of your planned usage. The Associate Dean will collect the weekly sign-ups and monitor the use of the conference room. When unscheduled, the conference room will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Phones are provided for you to receive calls and to make local calls. When the phone goes unanswered, the call will be rerouted to the Faculty Secretary's office in the respective buildings. Voice mail will not be available.
- Computer stations are provided for your convenience. Please log off when you have finished your work, and please observe the guidelines for computer use provided by Computer Services. Most notably, do not leave files on the computer desktop.
- The Part-Time Faculty Oasis is not to be used for student testing. In that regard, the guidelines are identical to those regarding the Thesken Hall and Johnston Hall Faculty Lounges, which are also not be used for student testing.
- Unaccompanied students are not to be in the Part-time Faculty Oasis.
