What is the ETC?
The Educational Technology Center (ETC) is a multimedia computer lab for faculty and staff located next to the computer center. The ETC is dedicated to helping faculty and staff explore, learn and adopt a wide variety of technology to enhance teaching and learning at Miami Middletown. One-on-one assistance, self-paced learning and small group help are all available. The ETC offers many of the same services and resources found at the Center for Information Management and Area 351 in Oxford - right on the Middletown Campus!

What can you do at the ETC?

Digitize
The ETC has resources available to digitize a wide variety of media types. Don’t your media be destroyed by time and overuse. Learn how to transfer your old audiocassettes or LPs to an MP3 or CD! Discover how easy it is to convert an old videotape into a DVD! You can even capture clips from VHS and DVD to use in your classroom.

Scan
The removable cover on the scanner in the ETC makes scanning oversized or thick items easy. The scanner even has an attachment especially for converting slides and negatives into digital images. Scanned documents can be saved as a variety of file types including JPG, PDF and even as an editable Word document.

Create
From start to finish the ETC can help with your next project! Learn how to make handouts, charts, graphs, presentations, web sites and how to make them better! The ETC also has digital cameras and a camcorder available for loan. Learn how to use iMovie or Windows Movie Maker to combine video, images and music to create a professional looking project. You can burn your final project to a CD or DVD or compress it to share in the web. We even have a CD duplicator that can duplicate up to 8 CDs in less than 5 minutes and a special printer for printing directly on printable CD/DVDs!

Learn
Have you even wanted to learn new programs like Flash, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Producer or others? The ETC can help you through individualized training designed to fit your needs and schedule. You can also learn more about the programs you use everyday - like how to use the mail merge in Word or how to add narration to a PowerPoint presentation. If you have questions about new software or technology, the ETC will even find the answers for you!

* While the ETC does keep a supply of CD/DVDs for training purposes, you must supply your own media for personal and instructional projects. CD/DVDs can be purchased at the bookstore or in most electronics retail stores.
