UniqueID and Novell Password

Access to Miami University computing technologies requires your UniqueID and Novell login password.

  • UniqueID is generally the first six letters of your last name and first and middle initial. If that sequence results in a UniqueID that already exists, a number is substituted for the last character(s). Example - The UniqueID for John Q. Public would be PublicJQ. For assistance in determining your UniqueID, go to myMiami and click on the Login Help? link or you can find it on the web using:

    - the Miami UniqueID Lookup Tool (available from mymiami.muohio.edu by clicking Login help and then UniqueID self-service tool).
    - the Electronic Directory
  • Your Novell login password is your birth month, birth day, and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. The birth month and birth day must each be two digits. (MMDDSSSS). I.E. The password for someone with a birthday of 9/2/70 and SSN of 123-45-6789 would be 09026789.
  • You must change your password when you logon the first time.
  • It is strongly recommended that you set the question and answer so you may automatically have your password reset to the default if you forget it!!
    • Note: If you do not set the secret question and answer and later forget the new password, you will need to bring your Miami ID to the Computer Center to have it reset.
  • You may change you password and secret question/answer at any time at http://www.muohio.edu/password.
